Smoothing the Nest
Bodywork in Early Pregnancy
A Three-Hour Online Course with Jamie Mossay
This three-hour online course challenges the fear-based liability-centered cultural and institutional “rules” around bodywork and massage in early pregnancy. Crafted with creativity and introspection, it will support your thoughtful discernment as a practitioner as to when, how and with whom you might work in early pregnancy. It is designed for those who are already practicing prenatal bodywork and want more threads of knowledge and layers of wisdom guiding their work.
This course is NOT a replacement for in-person learning, but rather another voice in the chorus of experiences seeking to go beyond rigid rules and protocols. We highly recommend you seek mentorship and training in the art of hands-on belly-centered bodywork (like our Heart&Womb Prenatal Bodywork workshop) before implementing the techniques demonstrated in this course. This course is not to be construed as medical advice.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
Identify common fears around bodywork in early pregnancy
List benefits of massage in early pregnancy
Describe basic anatomy of early pregnancy
Describe/demonstrate at least one abdominal technique for early pregnancy with appropriate precautions.
